When Your Teen Starts to Drive

<< Business Car Insurance  Teen Driver Distractions >>

teen car insurance It’s the day many parents anticipate with nervous energy – the day their teen gets behind   the wheel on their own for the first time. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the crash rate per mile driven by 16 to 19 year olds is four times that of older drivers. As a result, every year more than 5,000 teen deaths occur from car crashes. There are steps parents can take to make their teen a safer driver. A car is not a toy and it’s important to reinforce that a vehicle is for transportation, not for social enjoyment. Also, teens should know the dangers of becoming distracted by cell phones, stereos, and passengers. While your auto insurance rates go up when you add your teen to your policy, there are things that will help keep the costs down. Many insurance companies offer “good student discounts” if the teen driver maintains a certain grade point average and there may be discounts for completing safety programs.

    Hmm, Physically …
Hmm, Physically Women can drive, it’s the mental thing some have to get a hold of. Some of them are just to “out there” to drive. I know, I got rear ended by a stupid in stop and go traffic. There are plenty of bad men drivers too, in fact I’d say 90% of this country (USA) cannot drive. Sorry but it’s true. Go to germany, they know how to drive. I’m from the US, but proudly not american. Also, I know it’s been a year, I just had to do it.

    Jesus christ… no …
Jesus christ… no wonder America can’t drive as well as other nations.. This country puts such a big deal on the smallest easiest things.. It’s driving, millions upon millions of people drive everyday. It’s not that hard, plus now a days, most cars are automatic, even easier. Thank God my parents never babied me, I grew up normal and was self dependent. I’m sick of this wussy crap.

    That part about the …
That part about the mom spelling out the rules repeatedly just made me cringe. That’s SUCH a bad idea! Unless the kid is a TOTAL ignoramus, you shouldn’t have to spell out the rules more than once or twice. Beyond that, it’s just nagging, “the old lady keeps saying the same every day” situation. Now, setting guidelines to ease into the driving experience is a genuinely good plan, but when teens break the rules, it’s not because they forgot, it’s because they said, “Fuck the rules.” I’m 17.

    You are the biggest …
You are the biggest on youtube. First of all, your cars suck, second of all everything you said is gay. And last of all, i’ll bet all my money you are one of the idiots that think they’re good at driving, when they actually suck. Honestly, before you go around trying to act cool and impress people on youtube, get a real car, and learn to drive!

    the only reason …
the only reason more teen drivers die more is because they are new, if you restrict it to 18 than there will be a lot more 18-21 deaths because that age will involve the most newbies.

    I agree…we don’t …
I agree…we don’t even have a separate license for different transmissions, we need to force people to learn on cars without all this technology we take for granted like TCS ABS and ESP…with newer cars being so easy to just get in and drive…all the proper technique is lost…this is coming from an American teen as well.

    The driving test in …
The driving test in England is incredibly difficult, they can fail you for the most minor thing so by the time you pass you’re a competent driver. As a new driver my mum made me promise not to have more than one passenger until ive driven 6 months, no passengers at night unless in cases of emergencies, no radio at night or when it is raining, and i have to let her know when i arrive and when im setting off from my destination. I think they’re fair rules that will hopefully help keep me safe.

I’m 16 and recently got my license and I actually wasn’t too thrilled to get it, knowing that there are idiots out there sharing the same road I am. I’ve always had a dream to keep a clean record and never get a ticket, thats what pushes me to drive safe and also for the safety of my life.
